Gufran Khan’s breezy 91 gives Crickingdom Lions big win

With just four games left in the league stage of the Indonesian Cricket League, the Yadavas Archean Tigers and Daehan Smashers have booked their places in the final four. The fight for the remaining two slots is still on with four teams in contention.

Gufran Khan’s fabulous 91 of just 57 balls helped his team, the Crickingdom Lions, breach the 200 run mark and set up a big win that improved their chances of making it to the playoffs.

A boundary off the first ball of the game set the tone for Gufran’s knock, as he kept blazing away at one end despite losing partners at regular intervals at the other end.

Sixty two runs came in boundaries and just when he was looking set for a ton, Padmakar Surve knocked over his stumps nine runs short of what would have been a well-deserved hundred.

Amar Kapadia and Sampath Kumar blasted 71 runs of the last five overs to register the first double hundred team score in the tournament.

The opening bowling pair of David Surjit and Raj Kapadia were frugal in their spells and wickets fell when the Apacs batsmen were forced to take risks. Padmakar Surve fought valiantly with a quick, unbeaten 67 but did not get the support needed from the other end as the Warriors fell 60 runs short.

The TKCC Royals took on the Daehan Smashers in a crucial game on Saturday and were off to a flying start after choosing to bat first. Jimmy Bumb and Gema Fajar went after the Smashers opening bowlers and the score raced to 55 inside the sixth over.

A solid platform was set and the Royals were looking good to post a huge score, but Keyur Moradia and Kirubasankar’s entry into the attack turned the game on its head.

They picked up three wickets apiece as only two other batsmen managed to reach double figures as the Royals collapsed to 125 all-out.

Anjar Tadarus started off well with a breezy 30 but the Royals bowlers fought back to have the Smashers in trouble at 57 for five. Keyur Moradia started the rebuilding and the young Risky Sanjaya hit a crucial unbeaten 46 to guide the Smashers home with four wickets in hand.

Only pride was at stake in the bottom of the table clash between the Ceria Komodos and the Challengers Superkings, with both teams looking to end on a winning note.

The Challengers chose to bat first and their batsmen were soon up against a superb opening spell by Vivek Nair, who conceded only six runs in his first three overs.

Vishal Hirgude kept up the pressure and in trying to up the momentum, the Challengers conceded wickets to the wily pair of Ashit Mehta and Eki Antaria. Satinder Minhas and Andrew Sandi put on a brief partnership to take their team to 115 in 20 overs.

Eki Antaria looked in good touch and he was joined by Ashish Gupta who took to belting big boundaries as the pair put on a 77 run stand to guide the Komodos to a comfortable eight wicket win.
