he health crisis has left people with no choice but to spend their money mindfully. People are therefore limited to spending their money on the most essential things, but apart from food, what is essential varies for different people, and there are many reasons behind why people choose to spend their money for certain items or services.
Something some people are spending money on are upcoming trips in Bali, as they are responding to “book now, stay later” programs offered by hotels and resorts on the island. The hotels and resorts typically offer prepaid vouchers with special prices for rooms or villas, which include other privileges that range from free breakfast to room upgrades.
Accor’s Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort is one of the establishments that offers a prepaid staycation. It offers packages from Rp 1.899 million (US$ 128.82) per night to be used until December 2021 with no blackout dates. Meanwhile, Tanah Gajah in Ubud offers various packages for advance purchase, including “extended stay for greater value” starting from Rp 20 million for 14 nights.
“So far, [the guests’ responses] are good. Apparently, the Indonesian market is pretty interested in our property’s concept,” Bima Hartono, sales and marketing manager of Tanah Gajah Ubud, told The Jakarta Post.
Apart from being lured by the attractive pricing, holidaymakers seemingly have sentimental reasons behind the advance purchases for rooms and villas. They want to support the tourist industry, and spend their money for the establishments that resonate with them.
