Lake Toba to host Gondang Sabangunan Festival

raditional Batak music enthusiasts and history buffs who want to learn about the Super Volcano at Lake Toba Geopark and its stories dating back to 75,000 thousand years ago need to come to Gondang Sabangunan Festival on July 24 in Humbanghas regency.

The festival will feature traditional music and dance such as tortor dance with Lake Toba’s picturesque view in the background.

Gondang Festival will also showcase talents from the arts and culture department, highlighting Batak music, as an effort to increase the number of tourist visits.

“This is a great event. Toba has plenty of features, with interesting events the impact will be amazing,” said tourism minister Arief Yahya.

Lake Toba is considered as the deepest and biggest volcanic lake in the world and the second biggest after Victoria Lake in Africa. (asw)
