Sriwijaya Air Group to serve charter flight between Singapore and Tanjung Pandan

The new service is said to serve three flights per week from Dec. 15 to Jan. 5.

o prepare for the launching of a new charter flight route between Singapore and Tanjung Pandan in Bangka Belitung Islands by Sriwijaya Air Group, the Tourism Ministry has been selling promotional sales mission tour packages to Belitung since Nov. 1 at Marina Mandarin Hotel in Singapore.

Previous sales mission trip was attended by 33 travel agents and tour operators and four hotels. Economy Minister Counsellor of Indonesian Embassy in Singapore Sigit S. Widiyanto, Belitung Regent Sahani Saleh, and Belitung Deputy Regent Timur Burhanudin were also in attendance.

“We want to create Belitung as a favorite destination among foreign tourists. Belitung is included in the [ministry’s] to 10 Priority Destinations list,” explained the ministry's special staff for infrastructure, Judi Rifajantoro.

“Bali welcomes 40 percent [of the total of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia], Jakarta welcomes 30 percent, Batam-Bintan welcomes 20 percent and other cities welcome 10 percent,” Judi added.

The new service is said to serve three flights per week from Dec. 15 to Jan. 5.

Sriwijaya Air Group’s NAM Air commercial director Franky Gan said that for flights between Dec.15-22 the return ticket is sold at S$125 (US$91.58) and S$101 for a one-way trip.

“For the Dec. 24 to Jan. 5, the return ticket is priced at S$150 and S$111 for a one-way trip,” told Franky.

Additionally, the sales mission trip is sold at Rp 2,700,000.

Belitung Regent Sahani said that Belitung is ready to welcome tourists from Singapore and has invested Rp 1.1 billion from provincial administration-owned enterprises (BUMD) to the charter flight program. (kes)
