Tangerang to offer open-air tour buses

he Tangerang Tourism, Cultural and Park Agency in Banten plans to provide an open-air tour bus service that will allow visitors to explore the city.
According to Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah, similar services were already available in big cities across Indonesia and the buses in Tangerang would serve as a new tourist attraction.
"[It would be great to apply such a service in] Tangerang as it is home to various tourist spots, from city parks and historical destinations, to religious sites and shopping malls," Arief said on Monday as quoted by Antara.
Other cities currently offering open-air tour buses are Surakarta in Central Java and Bandung in West Java. Jakarta, meanwhile, provides closed buses for its city tours.

The city administration is said to utilize Trans Tangerang that were no longer in use. These buses previously served the Tangerang-Kali Deres route.
The new tour route will reportedly cover Potret Park, Elephant Park, Bekelir Kampong, Agung Mosque and Berendeng Bridge, before continuing to Al-Azhom Grand Mosque.
"It will then return to Potret Park again," Arief said.
The number of tourist arrivals to Tangerang increases about 20 percent each year. Last year, more than 1 million visitors explored the city, according to the agency. This year, it has welcomed 443,153 tourists so far. (kes)
