100 buses to promote Indonesian destinations to welcome Asian Games

The public and visitors can expect to marvel at these eye-catching Wonderful Indonesia Asian Games buses from Thursday until December.

even destinations in Indonesia are set to be promoted on 100 buses as part of the Tourism Ministry's latest marketing campaign to welcome the 2018 Asian Games.

The so-called Wonderful Indonesia Asian Games buses, which include Transjakarta and airport shuttle buses DAMRI and Blue Bird, are wrapped in images of the highlighted destinations, namely Palembang, Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Banyuwangi, Komodo Island and South Sumatra. The public and visitors can expect to see at these eye-catching buses from Thursday until December.

"These seven spots are among our marketing priority destinations," said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya during the launching event in Central Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co (https://travel.tempo.co/read/1110660/7-destinasi-wisata-akan-dipromosikan-di-bus-wonderful-asian-games).

The images feature the breathtaking landscapes of Nusa Penida in Bali, the night view of the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Jakarta, the Gandrung dance from Banyuwangi, the Borobudur temple, Bali's kecak dance and Padar Island in Komodo Island, East Nusa Tenggara.

The ministry is targeting to lure 5 percent of foreign tourists enteringIndonesia during the Games to visit the aforementioned destinations.

"The estimated total number of foreign tourists [who will come during the  Games] is 170,000. Five percent means there will be 8,500 people who will explore the seven places," said Arief.

Previously such a campaign had been launched by the ministry on city buses abroad, such as Berlin, Paris, Moscow and London. (kes)
