Citilink becomes first airline to connect Bali to Banyuwangi

ow-cost carrier Citilink, a subsidiary of national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, has launched a new direct flight between Banyuwangi in East Java and Denpasar in Bali, making it the first airline to connect the two regions.
“Both East Java and Bali boast commendable economic growth. We hope the new route will help accelerate growth in these two regions,” Citilink Indonesia president director Juliandra said in a statement.
He went on to say that he also expected the new route to bolster connectivity between the two regions, especially in relation to tourism.
“This route will serve as an alternative mode of transportation among tourists and members of the general public who wish to quickly travel from Banyuwangi to Denpasar, or vice versa,” he added.
The 40-minute flight employs the Airbus A320, which accommodates up to 180 passengers, in its daily operations.
The service departs from Banyuwangi at 8 a.m. and arrives in Denpasar at 9.40 local time. From Denpasar, the flight takes off at 10.05 a.m. local time and arrives in Banyuwangi at 9.55 a.m. (rfa/kes)
