ason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the team behind parody movies like Scary Movie, Epic Movie, and Vampires Suck, have another spoof in the works, and this time it’s all about Disney-owned mega-hit Star Wars.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the duo are set to direct and write the flick, titled Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue, while Covert Media’s CEO Paul Hanson is producing the film along with Broken Road Productions’ Todd Garner.
“Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into what audiences love,” Hanson said of the pair. “Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world’s most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away.”

Financed by Covert Media, Star Worlds is the second project announced under the two-year deal between Hanson’s company and Broken Road. The partnership is currently working on Paul Franklin’s action thriller, Resurface.
Star Worlds is far from the first full-length Star Wars parody. In 1987, Mel Brooks spoofed the first three films in the series along with other well-known sci-fi films in his movie, Spaceballs, which starred Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga and Dick Van Patten, and grossed US$38 million with a budget of 27.8 million.
Star Worlds is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to begin shooting this fall. (sul/kes)
