hat if you lived in a post-apocalyptic world where flesh-eating creatures could eat you whenever you made a sound? What happens in A Quiet Place might be the answer to that disturbing question.
Directed by American actor John Krasinski, the movie shows a family living in fear as mysterious monsters hunt them down. In order to stay alive, the family, father Lee Abbott (Krasinski), mother Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt), deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and sons Marcus (Noah Jupe) and Beau (Cade Woodward), is forbidden to make any sound.
Hence, they walk barefoot, use sign language to communicate and cry in silence. Lee has tried to get help using Morse code and attempted to find the creature’s weakness, but to no avail.

One day, an incident strikes the family, changing them forever. The situation worsens as Evelyn is pregnant and soon will give birth.
Consequently, the characters do not call out each other’s names, but it is hardly a problem as the film gives enough explanation about the characters and their drama. In its first few minutes, the film feels too slow to escalate to the scary part, though that is rewarded by jump-scares and thrilling scenes afterward. Both Krasinski and Blunt, married in real life, give their best performances in the film as parents who have to raise their children in the world where dangers lurk everywhere. (wng)
