Making Pati Salt

Men carry and unpack sacks of raw salt inside a 1,800 square meter warehouse in Pati regency, Central Java.

The salt will be processed into salt for human consumption. They use iodized salt with sodium chloride and potassium iodate as the main ingredients. Iodine functions as a micronutrient that the body needs for growth and physical and mental development.

There are two kinds of salt produced by this home industry, hard salt and refined salt.The salt is sold throughout Java.
