President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo awarded dozens of former Cabinet members, including current House of Representatives Speaker and former Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani and Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, with Bintang Mahaputra and Bintang Jasa medals for their accomplishments. The President also bestowed the award to several medical workers who lost their lives while treating patients during the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The two medals are among the highest civilian honors bestowed by the state.
