AKARTA: Indonesian police said Friday a team of officers, currently in Singapore offering assistance into the investigations surrounding the controversial death of Indonesian student David Hartanto, had been turned down.
"The team was sent first and foremost to provide assistance to the Singapore police but apparently they *police* do not require such assistance," Indonesian police spokesman Insp. Gen. Abubakar Nataprawira said.
However, Abubakar said that to this date no new information had been presented to police in Indonesia.
David was found dead in March after allegedly committing suicide at his campus in Singapore where he was reportedly having difficulties with his studies.
David's parents have insisted that their son was murdered, denying he could ever commit suicide and claiming they had evidence to prove it. They have sought help from the National Police in Jakarta to uncover the mystery behind the death.
