AKARTA: A motorcyclist assaulted a traffic police officer after he was stopped on Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Monday.
First Brig. Mulyana said Tuesday that he intended to fine the motorcyclist, Gan Thien I, for not turning on his head lights. Mulyana said that Gan resisted when he was asked for his vehicle registration documents (STNK).
“He gave me the documents, but then he took them back from my hands,” Mulyana said. “I asked him to give me the documents again but he went berserk and started hitting me,” he added.
Mulyana wrestled with Gan, put him in a headlock and eventually took the angry motorcyclist to his supervisor, Jr. Insp. Tutuko.
Gan, however, attacked Mulyana once again when he tried to stop another driver. Gan was then taken to the Jakarta Police headquarters for questioning.
