AKARTA: A total of 565 civil servants employed by the Jakarta administration skipped work on Monday, the first day back to work after Idul Fitri holidays.
The Jakarta Regional Employment Agency reported that a total of 304 employees were taking leave, 178 called in sick, 74 were absent for personal reasons and nine were absent without leave.
City Secretary Fadjar Panjaitan said the administration would sanction government employees who skipped work on Monday.
Governor Fauzi Bowo has called on Jakarta’s civil servants to not extend their leave past the holiday. The city granted civil servants leave from Aug. 27 to Sep. 4 for Idul Fitri celebrations.
