AKARTA: Jakarta Police data indicates that crime rates were significantly lower in the capital during this year’s Idul Fitri season.
Between Aug. 24 and Sept. 5, overall crime was down by 75 percent compared with the same period last year, Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said.
Baharudin added that burglaries were down by 36 percent this year.
Traffic accident fatalities dropped by 48 percent. This holiday season, Jakarta saw 22 traffic fatalities compared to last year’s 43.
Overall, the Jakarta Police recorded 204 criminal cases, down from last year’s 436.
