AKARTA: Juniver Girsang, the lawyer of former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Antasari Azhar, is calling on the Jakarta Police to expedite the handling of a case that involves Antasari being accused of using text messages to threaten a businessman.

Antasari is serving time for masterminding the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.

“The text message was one piece of evidence being used by the prosecutor to accuse Antasari of being the mastermind of the murder,” Juniver said.

Juniver added that an information technology expert from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) had confirmed that, based on the call data record, Nasrudin’s number was not saved in Antasari’s cellular phone.

Juniver added that the expert also suggested that the message was sent via the Internet, not from Antasari’s cellular phone.

“Our own investigation revealed that whomever sent the message was located in Kebayoran Baru, while my client was at his office at the KPK building in Kuningan,” Juniver said.

Juniver said that the police had to find the identity of the sender before they could solve the murder case.
