“I only ate chicken breast and eggs for three months,” said the 28-year-old ballad singer.
He said the producer actually did not specifically ask him to go on a diet, but when he went for a screen test for the movie and discussed the results with the producer, he told him to lose a little weight.
The New York-born Eru plays a street singer in the film in which he stars alongside Indonesian actors Atiqah Hasiholan and Rio Dewanto.
His hit song “Black Glasses” will be featured on the film’s soundtrack. He said he changed the song’s arrangement a little and sang the English version for the movie, which will be released in Indonesia in November.
Eru is on a nine-day visit in Jakarta to promote the film. During his visit to Indonesia’s capital, he said he tried many Indonesian dishes including sate, soto ayam and karedok.
“I have no problem with Indonesian food since I like spicy food,” he said.
