span class="inline inline-left">Ari SeputraThree renowned fashion designers steal the limelight with their personal interpretation of high fashion.

The three '€“ Ari Seputra, Rusly Tjohnardi and Mel Ahyar '€“ shared the stage, displaying their latest high fashion creations for the recent Le Grande Soiree grand festivity, held as part of the Senayan City Audi Fashion Nation Seventh Edition in Jakarta.

Under his premium line, fashion designer Ari Seputra, exhibited unusual designs, based on black, white and grey with simple yet modern cutting techniques with a lot of leather '€“ but subtle in presence '€“ for the collection he called '€œRustic'€.

'€œWithin 15 items of my brand new collection, I'€™d like to make my statement in leaving all the glamour behind, shifting it into simple yet high fashion looks,'€ Ari said after the show.

For his premium Ari Seputra line, the designer elegantly combines premium quality leather with chiffon, something that is quite rare to see.

'€œBlack and white outfits can be really boring some times. So, I chose to mix it with leather to get that edgy look,'€ he explained.

Ari meticulously applies keranjang ketap motif of Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara on fabrics through digital printing technique.

Rusly Tjohardi
Rusly TjohardiGood layers of chiffon and leather make an aesthetically proportional outfit.

'€œThe leather is thin. So, I need to put several chiffon layers to give volume to the dress, but without losing comfort while wearing it,'€ said Ari, who also runs up-and-coming line Major Minor.

On leather, Ari playfully puts the material on collars, belts and even bangles.

The designer also chose a loose-fitting design, while also sometimes combining it with leggings for comfort.

For his show, Rusly defined his semi-couture collection, called Les Reves Mirfiques, utilizing dusty colors. '€œI treated my new collection with an elegant and classic look. Very Parisian,'€ he said.

The basic idea of Rusly'€™s 12 outfits was inspired by a lady'€™s natural gracefulness.

'€œI believe that every woman, even the tomboys, have their own elegant side. Inspiration for the look came from an old porcelain doll,'€ he said.

And true to his word, Rusly truly copied the traditional look of a porcelain doll, filling his creations with tulle, organza and lace.

He also added veils and detailed head pieces in dramatizing the overall designs.

One of Rusly'€™s notable dresses was a classic long and backless one with outstanding blue ruffles on the lower section. The ruffles gave a visual effect of blue flames, providing the atmosphere with more grandeur for the rest of the collection.

He also made long-sleeved knee-length dresses, sack dresses, mermaid dresses and princess-like ball gowns in pallets of grey, grey gradation, gold gradation, blue gradation, flesh tones and peach.

Mel Ahyar provided color to the night with her entertaining designs, which were inspired by this year'€™s Academy Award nominated feature films '€“ a collection of 15 dresses entitled '€œThe Golden Screen'€.

The designer gleefully applied a hand embroidered motif of skull and poison to represent the ParaNorman animated feature film; picked bright red courtesy of Anna Karenina; highlighted a flowery motif for Les Miserables; made asymmetric cutting over Impossible; a touch of masculinity with bow tie referencing Lincoln; and gold colored metal for The Pirates among her epic creations.

The highlight of the night involved a pink veiled feathery dress '€“ made out of laser-cut 3D '€” inspired by Argo.

'€œAll dresses represent red carpet moments. I had never made a collection based on movies, so this is a first for me,'€ Mel said.

'€œI have no special reason why I chose the Oscar-related designs. But when I was about to create this collection, the Oscar buzz was really loud, so I got inspired.'€
