As she begins building her portfolio in the entertainment business, budding actress Chelsea Elizabeth Islan is setting her sights on a future in film production. Her goal: direct a Hollywood movie. The 18-year-old is currently working on her second feature film, the high-octane action flick Street Society, full of super cars and street racing.

'€œIn the movie, I play Karina, who is a character walking a fine line between protagonist and antagonist. She starts as a nice and kindhearted girl before turning into a mean one. It was really fun.

The character has so many traits that It was fun and challenging at the same time.

I had only one scene driving one of the super cars, but what an experience that was. In the scene I drove a green Lamborghini Galardo. It was an exhilarating experience because I don'€™t have a driver'€™s license, and the Galardo was my first experience driving a real car '€“ a super car at that '€“ on a real road.

I had to drive the car on the road, weaving in between motorcycles and a public minivan. Luckily, it was an automatic transmission. I'€™d definitely have more trouble driving a stick.

I'€™m still focusing on my acting career, because it helps me build up my portfolio in moviemaking. My ultimate dream is to work in film production.

I'€™ve been making short movies for several years now. With a very small crew, I take the role of director, screenwriter and also art director.

I'€™m taking a course at the creative media technology institute, the School of Audio Engineering in Jakarta. In one of the projects, I got to direct a short movie within a one-day span. It was stressful, but the experience was worthwhile.

During my time off, my mind often wanders and I think about movie ideas. Like if I find something interesting in the real world, I will quickly think how to use it in a movie.

I'€™m now taking a gap year after graduating high school. Next year, I'€™m planning to study film production at the New York Film Academy. It'€™s offering a round-up associate degree, allowing me to learn about moviemaking, screenwriting, directing and theater.

I'€™ve set my mind in this direction, hoping that one day I could actually direct films in Hollywood.'€
