he Supreme Court (MA) has issued a ruling grantinga case review request filed by three doctors who were sent to prison onmalpractice charges.
The panel ordered that the three doctors be freed from prison.
'The panel found the doctors had violated none of the regulations while performing the operation [in question]. Therefore, the panel's ruling has cancelled out an earlier ruling made by the appeal panel,' Supreme Court spokesman Ridwan Mansyur said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday.
The Supreme Court panel was led by judge M. Saleh and four other members, namely Maruap Dohmatiga Pasaribu, Surya Jaya, Syarifuddin and Margono. Judge Surya Jaya had filed dissenting opinion.
The three doctors, obstetrician-gynecologist Dewa Ayu Asiary Prawani, Hendry Simanjuntak and Hendy Siagian were held at Manado prison in North Sulawesi.
Ayu said she was upbeat about the ruling. She said the three of them would soon return home, with Ayu heading to Balikpapan, Hendry to Medan and Hendy to Papua. (dic)
