A fire gutted 22 houses on Jl. Kejayaan Dalam, Taman Sari district, West Jakarta on Thursday morning.
Munif Ahmad, one of the residents, said that the fire first popped up at 7:15 a.m. from a house owned by one of his neighbors, who is named Mirna.
He said that the fire was able burn up to 22 houses so quickly because the distance between the houses was quite small.
'I could save the lives of my family members only. All my valuable goods have been burnt,' he said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said that firefighters, who brought 22 fire trucks, were able to extinguish the fire at 10:15 a.m. (alz)
