ultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, has seen a decrease in the number of passengers arriving and departing this year.
Airport operator PT Angkasapura I recorded that by the end of November this year, the number of passengers arriving at the airport decreased by five percent while the number of passengers departing from the airport decreased by 10 percent.
The company's spokesperson Rio Hendarto said the number of inbound passengers from January to November was 3,339,362 while the number of outbound passengers for the same period last year was 3,499,362.
Rio blamed the decrease on natural disasters that frequently caused flight delays or even airport closures, as well as Merpati airlines, which stopped serving routes to eastern areas of Indonesia. There are currently 12 domestic and two international flight companies operating at the airport.
