Jakarta Governor Basuki âAhokâ Tjahaja Purnama says he needs a long time to make significant progress in Jakarta due to the poor quality of human resources in the city administrationâs bureaucracy
akarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama says he needs a long time to make significant progress in Jakarta due to the poor quality of human resources in the city administration's bureaucracy.
He admitted he was not shocked when his performance along with vice governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat was deemed less than satisfactory.
The governor said he needed help from numerous sides to make progress in the city, especially in reforming the city's bureaucracy.
'Changing the personnel is very difficult and it needs time. Changing the corruptive mentality among civil servants is very difficult and it must be changed,' kompas.com quoted him as saying in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to a face-to-face survey conducted by the Kompas Research and Development Institution with 600 respondents in five mayoralties in the capital city, residents have yet to see major changes, six months after Ahok and Djarot took office.
The survey also showed that residents were not satisfied with public transportation and security.
Ahok said he was settling the major problems in phases. (rms)(+++)
