fter being on the police's wanted list for five days, couple Ali Mahmudin and Bulan Sri Wulan, the owners of wedding organizing company Wawai Bride (WB) who allegedly embezzled money from their customers, turned themselves in to the Argomulyo Police in Salatiga, Central Java, on Friday.
Cengkareng Police chief Comr. Sutarjono said on Saturday that the couple could not tolerate the news about them in mass media and decided to surrender.
'They were cooperative, so we appreciated their willingness to surrender,' he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
He added that their initiative in surrendering made the investigation easy.
'I have instructed my personnel to pick them up from Salatiga,' he said.
Dozens of future brides and grooms reported the owners of WB to the Cengkareng Police on Monday for allegedly embezzling their money.
Ali and Bulan ran away on Monday when they were supposed to be handling a couple's wedding.
Kumgeltu, a groom who was scheduled to be married on May 30, said he and his wife had paid Rp 42 million (US$3,192) to the wedding organizers.
'We just needed to pay a remaining Rp 5.5 million,' he said, adding that he would proceed with his wedding plans after getting loans from friends.
