wenty six members of the House of Representatives' Commission II on domestic governance submitted a proposed revision of the 2015 Local Election Law to House leaders on Monday.
The proposal won political support from legislators of political parties grouped in the Red-and-White Coalition led by former presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto.
'We are sure the proposed revision will not disturb the local elections and their preparations,' Ahmad Riza Patria, a representative of the 26 legislators, said as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.
The proposal was handed over to House Speaker Setya Novanto and Deputy House Speaker Taufik Kurniawan.
The House has been divided over the proposed law revision, with all parties supporting the Great Indonesia Coalition aligning in opposition.
The government and the General Elections Commission (KPU) have opposed the proposal over fears it would disrupt preparations for the elections.
