A

fire damaged 400 houses in Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Wednesday. No casualties were reported.

The North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency deployed 18 fire trucks to extinguish the blaze.

The agency'€™s head, Satriadi Gunawan, was quoted by beritajakarta.com as saying that the fire mostly burned semipermanent buildings.

'€œWe haven'€™t determined the cause of the fire. It may have been caused by a short circuit from one of the houses,'€ Satriadi said, adding that he was still waiting for the investigation results.

Suryadi, a 47-year-old resident, said that at first the blaze only affected three houses, but spread to other homes amid strong winds.
