round 500 families of neighborhood units (RT) Nos. 04, 07 and 08 of community unit (RW) No. 04 in Jembatan Besi, Tambora, West Jakarta, are being looked after in emergency accommodation after a fire destroyed their homes on Saturday.
Tambora district head Mursidin said on Sunday that his office had established three posts as temporary shelters.
'We've also set up a public kitchen for their daily meals or are providing food assistance,' Mursidin said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
The fire raged through the densely populated neighborhoods on Saturday night at 7 p.m., destroying 150 houses. West Jakarta Fire Agency deployed 36 fire trucks and took five hours to bring the blaze under control.
'No casualties have been reported, but the fire has caused financial losses worth billions of rupiah,' Mursidin said.
He said the fire appeared to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
