"We gradually changed our strategy. Now we are looking for partners for more business-to-business deals," president director Hastanto Sri Margi Widodo said during an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting in Jakarta on Friday.
"We are currently in talks with some banks and multifinance firms. Hopefully, we can close deals with two new partners by year-end," Hastanto said.
Currently the company has 20 bank partners and five multifinance partners, as well as others including IT and construction companies.
Hastanto, who was previously an IT director at shipping company Samudera Indonesia, received approval to become the company’s president director during the meeting. Both Asuransi Bintang and Samudera Indonesia were founded by businessman Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, who was also the founder of Bank Niaga (now CIMB Niaga). (dmr)
