he Financial Services Authority (OJK) released on Wednesday the names of the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s (IDX) new commissioners for the 2017-2020 period.
Former Indonesian ambassador to South Korea, John A Prasetio, was appointed as IDX’s new president commissioner, replacing Robinson Simbolon.
John has held several prestigious positions in the past, such as president commissioner of global accounting firm Ernst and Young, and vice president of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Other new IDX commissioners to be appointed next week after the company's shareholders meeting are: Inarno Djajadi, Garibaldi Thohir, Hendra H Kustarjo and Lydia Trivelly Azhar.
“Three commissioners [of the previous period] are maintaining their positions. Pak John is an accountant specializing in the capital market. It is going to be business as usual,” IDX president director Tito Sulistio said on Thursday.
John told The Jakarta Post that the IDX’s priority would be to get as many as retail investors into the market as possible, as the country — with its 250-million-plus population — has a huge potential for that. (bbn)
