he renovation of old buildings in the city’s Kota Tua (Old Town) in West Jakarta is targeted to be completed before the commencement of 2018 Asian Games.
Kota Tua Zone Management Unit head Novriadi Setio Husodo said there were 12 old buildings planned to be renovated and four of them are still under renovation.
“We target to finish the renovation before the 2018 Asian Games so Old Town can become one of the tourist attractions for foreigners,” Novriadi said Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com. The 2018 Asian Games is scheduled to be begin on Aug.18 in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatera.
He added that the four buildings which are still being renovated are Cipta Niaga building, Inkopad building, Kertha Niaga building and a building located behind Batavia café. All of them will be used as café, restaurant and art gallery.
“The [plan] is based on the Urban Design Guide Line [UDGL]. The buildings become tourism facility to create comfort and the service improvement as [Kota Tua] is a main destination in Jakarta,” he said.
At present, the management unit still tries to find investors who are willing to use the revitalized buildings based on the concept. (wnd)
