ersonnel of the Jambi Police destroyed on Wednesday millions of grams of crystal methamphetamine seized as evidence of drug crimes revealed during a string of antidrug operations conducted by the police's narcotics division from March to June.
The evidence comprises 3.97 million g of crystal meth worth Rp 6 billion (US$433,000). The police also destroyed 2,574 ecstasy pills.
"The evidence we destroyed today was from the result of the arrests of six suspects," said Jambi Police chief Muchlis AS. The police destroyed the crystal meth and ecstasy pills by grinding them into a powder using a blender and putting them into a bucket containing water and detergent.
The police also destroyed 2,270 bottles of alcoholic beverages from various brands. They crushed them using heavy equipment. (dpk/ebf)
