fter making history as the first fighter ever to deliver a knockout (KO) loss to Demetrious Johnson, Adriano Moraes aims to cement his legacy by fighting the mixed martial arts great into submission in their rematch at ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II Aug. 27.

The historic rematch will put both men to the test and determine how much the athletes learned from their last encounter. The two previously met at ONE on TNT I, where Moraes gave the audience one of the greatest upsets in the series with his highlight knee KO.

Johnson, who has more than 30 wins in his storied career, is widely considered MMA’s greatest athlete of all time.

As the main fight for ONE’s first-ever prime time broadcast to the the United States and Canada, Moraes is thrilled to have another platform to cement his status as the best in the sport. The Brazilian hopes to once again prove to the world that he’s the champ for a reason.

“I believe this partnership between ONE and Prime Video will be fantastic for MMA fans and everyone who loves martial arts,” Moraes explained. “And for me, it will be an honor to [compete in] the main event on the first Prime Video broadcast. I am very grateful once again.”

“Mikinho,” as the Brazilian is affectionately known, believes that his rematch will be much like the fighters’ first encounter, with him being declared the winner after finishing the MMA legend.

Moraes wants to earn the right to be the new face of MMA after defeating the icon, this time through his slick BJJ game.

“Demetrious Johnson is a very smart guy, very tough, and I know he’s coming in very hungry for this rematch,” Moraes said. “I’m [also] training a lot. I want to show my evolution as an athlete, so I believe I can get a submission in the fourth round.”

With the stakes set high and the stage worldwide, both titans are set to showcase their skills in a barnburner of a fight at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
