Silangit Airport in North Sumatra will officially serve international flights starting Oct. 28.
On that day, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is set to be the first international flight to land there, traveling from Singapore to Silangit.
Garuda Indonesia will offer three flights for the Silangit – Singapore route in a week, using a Bombardier CRJ 1000 airplane that has the capacity of 96 passengers.

According to Garuda Indonesia president director Pahala N. Mansury, the new service is expected to improve Silangit’s connectivity with other local and international cities.
“As well as improving Garuda Indonesia’s contribution toward achieving the national target of 20 million foreign tourists in 2019,” said Pahala. (kes)
