President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has asked the nation to move on from grievances over the results and circumstances of the 2024 general election and to unite ahead of the start of Prabowo Subianto’s presidency later this year, after the Constitutional Court found no merit in allegations of state interference and nepotism in the 2024 poll.

In two separate five-to-three decisions, the court rejected election dispute petitions filed by losing presidential candidates Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo, upholding Prabowo’s landslide victory in the February contest.

The plaintiffs had accused the President of misusing state resources to support the campaign of Prabowo and his running mate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is Jokowi’s eldest son.

On the sidelines of a working visit to West Sulawesi on Tuesday, one day after the rulings were announced, Jokowi said the government would respect the court’s decisions as they were final and legally binding.

He also asserted that the rulings had cleared his administration of accusations of electoral foul play.

“The court also declared that allegations of [electoral] fraud, state intervention, politicization of social aid programs, mobilization of the government apparatus and partisan regional heads were false. That’s what’s important for the government,” he said.

He added that it was time for the country to come together to face future challenges.
