Multinational technology company AMD announced the latest addition to its computer-peripheral collection with the launch of the AMD Radeon'¢ R7 Series Solid State Drive (SSD) on Aug. 19 in Sunnyvale, California.
AMD teamed up with OCZ Storage Solutions, a Toshiba Group company, to design and manufacture the SSD. The product is fitted with the latest technology from OCZ, such as NAND flash MLC A19 and the Barefoot 3 M00 controller, which gives the AMD Radeon'¢ R7 Series SSD the endurance to write 30 gigabytes per day for four years with a reading speed of up to 550 megabytes per second and a writing speed of up to 530 megabytes per second.
'The AMD Radeon brand is recognized by PC gamers for its quality and speed,' said Roman Kyrychynskyi, director of memory at AMD. He is confident that the product would offer the customer an ideal balance between capability and affordability.
Chief marketing officer of OCZ Solutions, Alex Mei, shares the same enthusiasm, stating that the technology featured in the product would excel in terms of performance as well as endurance, whether being used in desktops or notebook devices.
The launch of the AMD Radeon'¢ R7 Series SSD emphasizes AMD's attempt to be a one-shop stop for computing needs. They have already produced a range of peripherals, including graphic cards, processors and memory units.
The product, now available at online stores, is sold in 120, 240 and 480-gigabyte variants. The price is Rp. 1,168,583.13 for the 120-gigabyte, Rp. 1,916,551.13 for the 240-gigabyte, and Rp. 3,494,296.13 for the 480-gigabyte model.
