Jakarta, Oct. 20, 2015, In one year, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla were able to restore public services performance through a one-door policy in several sectors. This one-door policy shortened the length of time it took to get several permits and made it more effective and efficient.

For example, in the agriculture sector, 20 permits used to take 751 days of procurement. Now it is down to 12 permits with only 182 days of procurement. In the industry sector, the previous 19 permits took 672 days of procurement, which was then cut to 11 permits in only 152 days. The same goes for the tourism sector, which previously took 17 permits and 661 days of procurement, but is now only 11 permits and 188 days.

In the electricity sector, previously there were 49 permits that took 923 days to procure, but those numbers have gone down: now it is 25 permits and 256 days.

Governmental efforts to strengthen the national economic foundation are also showing results. The release of economic policy packages has been able to strengthen the Indonesia'€™s economic condition, slowly but surely.

For example, the first economic package was able to develop better macroeconomics, a rotating national economy and better protection of low-income people, while also motoring the rural economy. The second economic package is viewed by most of citizens as the application that touches the people directly. The examples are tax cuts, easier investment permits and low deposits taxes. The third economic package is more real because the government directly performs several things such as lowering of oil prices, industrial electricity tariff cuts and the expansion of micro-loans.

Meanwhile, there are three main aspects that became the government'€™s focus in the fourth economic package, namely simplifying the wage system, following up micro-loans, loans for export-oriented small and medium enterprises and helping workers survive layoffs.

'€œThe fourth package intends to widen work opportunities to a maximum in order to facilitate entrepreneurs and investors,'€ said the Cabinet'€™s Secretary Pramono Anung in Jakarta.

It is getting more real because the release of economic policy packages has strengthened the rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar.

In the work force sector, the recruitment of laborers has been rising during the Jokowi-JK administration. In the first half of 2014, there were 611,000 recruited laborers in several work areas. That number increased 12.31 percent in 2015 to 685,000 labors. Investments also rose by 16.56 percent from Rp 22.8 trillion in the first part of 2014 to Rp 259.7 trillion in the same period in 2015.

Investment realization outside Java also rose by 25 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

'€œThis is all to give positive signals to the citizens and investors, saying that Indonesia is friendly with everyone who would like to invest in Indonesia,'€ said the Cabinet'€™s Secretary Pramono. (Tim PKP-Kominfo)
