abIndonesia 2018, the largest laboratory and scientific analytical equipment and technology expo in Indonesia, was officially opened on April 4 by Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir.
The trade exhibition, organized by PT ITE Exhibitions Indonesia and ECMI ITE Asia Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), is being held for three days from April 4 to 6 at halls A & B of the Jakarta Convention Center.
LabIndonesia 2018 showcases the latest instrumentation, technologies, products and services in all major areas of analytical sciences and laboratory services. This is a must-attend event for scientists, lab managers, lecturers and college students, research and development institutions, quality control/assurance managers, chemists and biochemists, microbiologists, directors and procurement and analysis managers.
More than 210 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions are exhibiting in LabIndonesia 2018, namely Indonesia, Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
The international exhibitors account for 43 percent of all exhibitors. Four country pavilions will feature China, Germany, Korea and Singapore.
In particular, there is an increase in the number of exhibitors and exhibition space, with an 18 percent increase in exhibitors and an over 20 percent increase in exhibition space compared to the previous edition.
Returning exhibitors have expressed confidence in the Indonesian market and have taken larger spaces than before. Most of the well-known lab equipment brands, as well as the major manufacturers and distributors of equipment and services in Indonesia, are present in LabIndonesia.
“LabIndonesia is the biggest lab exhibition in Southeast Asia. It is important for local and international players to be in the event for the sake of their business continuity. We are targeting 11,000 visitors in this edition,” said Juanita Soerakoesoemah, managing director of ITE Exhibitions Indonesia.
“We expect the trend of Industry 4.0 to catch on in the Indonesian lab industry within the next few years. The Industry 4.0 concept that leverages the development of the internet and digitization is the key that will disrupt much of the current economic activity. Therefore, it is important for Indonesian players to respond the strategic issues as early as possible by adopting the latest technology, which can all be found in LabIndonesia 2018,” she further added.
Indonesia currently remains a net importer of laboratory equipment, with an estimated US$305 million worth of equipment imported into Indonesia as of early 2017.
Demand from the healthcare industry, as well as continuous growth seen in the chemical and pharmaceutical, food, metal and mining and electronics sectors, will continue to fuel demand for lab equipment.
LabIndonesia seizes these opportunities by bringing in the latest technology and laboratory equipment, whilst acting as the best avenue for producers, suppliers, the laboratory community and industries to meet up and drive business relationships.
Apart from showcasing laboratory equipment during the three-day exhibition, LabIndonesia 2018 is hosting over 100 technical seminars presented by experts invited by the exhibitors and 15 workshops organized by the supporting associations. It is also co-located with the 14th Asian Conference on Analytical Sciences (ASIANALYSIS XIV).
The workshop topics are selected by the supporting associations & institutions. Topics such as marketing skills for laboratories, new International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards implementation methods, as well as new analysis techniques helpful to lab operations are expected to be popular with the attendees.
Technical seminars will feature short presentations on lab safety tips, new product features and pointers on analysis methods will also be popular with visitors who are looking for a quick knowledge update or to get some ideas.
