s part of its commitment to consumer health and wellbeing, South Korean electronics company LG has introduced the GC-L22FTQBL, a multi-door refrigerator equipped with a UV Nano water dispenser.

As the first model in LG’s refrigerator line-up to offer a UV Nano water dispenser, the feature possesses the ability to eliminate harmful particles that may adhere to the refrigerator’s water outlet.

“This innovation completes a plethora of other supporting features that make this four-door refrigerator the perfect choice for families with an extra eye for their health and well-being,” said PT LG Electronics Indonesia Head of Product Marketing for Home Appliances Rumbi Simanjuntak.

Refrigerators with built-in water dispensers are certainly nothing new in LG’s range of products, but the feature’s popularity has been taking off because of its convenience

However, according to Rumbi, water dispensers are prone to be missed during cleaning and maintenance, which can cause the tip of their outlet tubes to fill with harmful particles, which in turn can be carried by the water and consumed.

LG’s development of the UV Nano technology aims to rectify this issue. Located inside the outlet, the UV Nano sanitizes the water through UV rays up to the tip of the tube.

Without the need for activation, the feature will clean the inside of the tube for ten minutes every hour. LG also provides an option for manual activation, which has a claimed effectivity rate of 99.99 percent for removing bacteria.

Using a non-plumbed method, the water dispenser works without the need for a special connection to an external water source. Instead, LG offers a built-in water tank with a capacity of four liters.

Aside from the UV Nano technology, LG’s health-focused features also include the Hygiene Fresh+ system, in which a dedicated air filter will eliminate up to 99.99 percent of bacteria that may adhere to food and drinks stored inside the refrigerator’s 428 liter compartments.

Meanwhile, the DoorCooling+ and Multi Air Flow features work in tandem to stabilize the refrigerator’s inside temperature, ensuring that cold air can flow rapidly and evenly inside its compartment.

The DoorCooling+ feature is a dedicated air vent designed to ensure that shelves mounted on the doors will maintain the same temperature as other parts of the refrigerator, along with accelerating the cooling process to account for temperature loss due to opening and closing of the doors.

At the same time, the Multi Air Flow technology strategically places air vents in crucial sections for better internal air flow and temperature control throughout the compartment.

“Its ability to quickly recover from the loss of cold air along with distributing it evenly throughout the storage compartments makes it a crucial aspect of maintaining the freshness of food fit for consumption.”

To complete the technological feat, LG has also finished the GC-L22FTQBL’s internal compartment with a special coating dubbed metal fresh, which is claimed to be better at retaining temperature than the material used in previous models. This feature comes in handy during power outages, enabling the refrigerator to maintain its cold air for longer than other models’ typical temperature retention of three hours.

Available in electronics stores throughout the country, the LG GC-L22FTQBL retails in the Rp 20 million range.
