inar Mas Land, through the Digital Hub BSD City, joined forces with Teman Start-Up to hold a Pitch Battle Competition on June 25. The event was a follow-up of the Starthub Mentoring Session program that was offered throughout the month of June, participated by hundreds of start-ups. All of these activities were part of the Digital Hub Next Action (DNA) movement initiated by Digital Hub.

"Sinar Mas Land through the Digital Hub accommodates the start-up community and supports its progress through the Starthub program, starting from the mentoring stage to the pitching stage,” said Irawan Harahap, Sinar Mas Land's chief digital tech ecosystem and development.

“Here we bring together hundreds of start-ups with digital industry players from various venture capital companies so that they can interact directly and network. Hopefully, the provision of knowledge from professionals and this prize can be a stepping stone for participants in entering the realm of national start-ups.”

This year's Starthub Mentoring Session program carried the theme Ready to Elevate Your Start-Up and was divided into three segments for participants. The program could be accessed through various platforms, such as webinars, Instagram Live, Spotify Podcast, YouTube and TikTok, as well as in the form of e-books and interactive templates.

The first session, delivered by the founder and chief executive of Sirclo, Brian Marshal, covered determining a start-up's purpose and strategy. The second session discussed the topic of sales and marketing, highlighting a “growth hack” by burning a marketing expense, explained by the head of digital marketing at Gojek, Ferdi Anggriawan. Finally, the third and last segment was about fundraising, with the cofounder and CEO of Titipku as a mentor.

"We appreciate the dedication of Sinar Mas Land to supporting the development of start-ups created by the nation's children. This program is carried out continuously, starting from mentoring to pitching so that start-ups born from this program can be more competitive, established and strategic. Hopefully, the ideas from start-ups that participate in Starthub can be developed and implemented properly to meet the needs of the wider community,” said Telkomsel's head of strategic investment, Nazier Ariffin. He also served as one of the judges for the event on June 25.

After rounds of eliminations, five start-up companies were chosen for the Pitch Battle Competition to compete for opportunities to be funded by large venture capital in Indonesia. Joining Nazier as judges were Hansen Hubert (vice president of investment at Alpha JWC Ventures), Clarissa Tabalujan (investment associate at BRI Ventures) and Fadlan (investment manager at Living Lab Ventures).
