Elevate your date night

J

ust because Valentine’s Day has come and gone, it doesn’t mean showering your special someone with romance should stop. In a world where grand gestures that elicit social media praises are expected, flower arrangements, specialized candy and the occasional sweet movie nights are so passé, so what’s a romantic to do?

We’ve narrowed down five fun activities that will {hopefully} pleasantly surprise your partner and strengthen your bond.

1. Escape Room

Collaboration is the key to a successful partnership. What better way to test the limits of your relationship by being stuck in a room with your significant other to solve puzzles and riddles?

Different skills are required for different types of puzzles, ranging from chemistry to mathematics. Therefore the objective of this activity is to ask yourself: what do you bring to the table? Do opposites attract? How well do you compliment each other with your own strengths and weaknesses?

The answers to these questions lie all over the city: Totem Room Escape in Pantai Indah Kapuk, Exit Studio in Kembangan, Escape Hunt in Kemang, or Pandora Experience in Kelapa Gading, Mall Ciputra, or Mall Baywalk.

For movie-enthusiasts, Time Machine Escape Room in Pantai Indah Kapuk adds to the experience by linking the rooms to your favorite movies such as Iron Man, Resident Evil, Harry Potter, and more. Trust us, this experience is better than the average movie date, and if you succeed, your relationship will come out stronger on the other side.

2. Shooting Range

Forget Cupid and his arrows, here’s a sure way to shoot your shot. A concept that may sound unconventional to foreigners, “nembak” means asking someone to be your girlfriend/boyfriend in Indonesia. At least, that’s how your dad asked your mom back in the day.

At some point in our lives, we’ve all wanted to recreate the paintball scene from 10 Things I Hate About You. What if we were to dial it up a notch?

From the south to the east of the city, you can find a shooting range that suits your needs. Take the Senayan Shooting Range for example; this famous range is home to the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin), and they also have a school for beginners. Other ranges are located in Kuningan City Mall, Pasar Minggu, and more.

3. Horror Show

The next item of our list is similar to going into the movie theater and purposely picking a scary movie so you lovebirds can have a reason to cuddle once the lights go down. We are here to make that experience way more fun.

As Jakarta is a vibrant city full of adventures on every corner, the city is also full of haunted houses and places that are more prone to the supernatural world. If there is one thing that unites our people, it is our love of scary folklore and fascination with ghosts and ghouls.

Journey into the unknown with 12AM, a 360° Theatrical Audio Experience. As you put on your headphones in a darkened room, you can choose your storyline and delve deeper into another realm through an unparalleled audio experience.

The right blend of dramatic theatrics and interactive media, the experience was designed to stimulate each senses to the fullest, creating for one unforgettable and chilling story. The best thing about it? It’s more realistic than the scariest movie you’ve ever seen.

4. Anger Management

It’s completely normal for us to get angry sometimes. Instead of channeling that to the people who love you, come over to the Breakroom to unleash all those negative emotions! Feel free to skip the gym session as well, because this place will make you break a sweat.

Located in Jl. Muara Karang, the Breakroom is a stress and depression reliever. By channeling all your anger at old equipment, from glass bottles to an old refrigerator, we guarantee that you will walk out feeling like a feather and maybe wearing a new pair of rose-colored glasses.

For safety, visitors will be given safety clothing from head to toe to ensure full body protection. Every single guest is welcome to enter the room with a bat and a heart full of rage. The game is divided into several packages that you can choose; cheekily called Denial to break 10 bottles, Anger for 20, and Bargaining for 30.

5. Couples Therapy

This is probably best saved for couples who have passed the stage of early introductions.

When you run into trouble, don’t be so fast to throw in the towel just yet. Sometimes, conflicts surrounding a relationship are often resolved when there is a mediator, preferably someone that’s certified and impartial. At the very least, it may erase any lingering doubts and insecurities you have in the relationship and change it for the better. Before you go, make sure you have your ducks in a row and be clear about what you wish to achieve from a session.

For the lucky few, counseling can give a relationship another reason to grow, and even thrive. At the end of the day, love is not all double rainbows and unicorns. The truth is, relationships need work. If you really want to believe in your relationship, screw the stigma surrounding it, do some research, and schedule an appointment.

Finally, we’d like to end this article with a quote from our favorite expert, Dr. Seuss; “If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.”
