Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto shrugged off a bad performance “score” of 11 out of 100 as assessed by rival Anies Baswedan during the latest debate.
Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto brushed off a bad “score” of 11 out of 100 on his performance as defense minister, which was conveyed by rival candidate Anies Baswedan during the latest election debate.
“Why should I care?” said Prabowo as he spoke in front of campaign volunteers at Remaha Sports Hall in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Prabowo added that he chose not to care about the assessment, pointing out that he had been defending the country since he was young.
“Since I was young, I have been willing to risk my life,” he said.
“I’ve been going up and down the mountain to defend the country, [so] why should I care about the score?”
During the presidential debate on Sunday, Anies gave the low score as he deemed the Defense Ministry’s performance to be lackluster, saying that the ministry’s policies had failed to support the welfare of Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel.
During the debate, Anies pointed out that during former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration, there were nine salary increases, compared with Jokowi’s administration, which only saw three salary increases.
