P

olice say they are investigating whether Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton broke New Zealand law by filming himself with a mobile phone while riding a motorcycle.

Hamilton, who is visiting New Zealand before traveling to the Australian F1 Grand Prix, posted two videos to social media, both taken from close range, apparently showing him riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle on an Auckland motorway.

It has been illegal in New Zealand to use a mobile phone while driving a vehicle since 2009.

A police spokesman was quoted by the New Zealand Herald as saying authorities would "take a strong stance on any activity which places undue risk on the lives on any person on the road."
