iacom Inc.-owned cable channel Comedy Central is set to create an original series for Snapchat involving sketch comedy, animated and stand-up comedy programs.
Thirteen original series are slated to been screened in Snapchat's Discover program as the network aims to promote new shows and lure young viewers. Some of them include Quickie with Nikki, Swag-A-Saurus with James Davis, Ian Abramson’s 7 Mins in Purgatory, Deadliest Chef starring comedian Caleb Synan and Untitled Late Night Series created by Emily Candini.
The channel's Snapchat strategic manager David Bernath told Bloomberg that while Comedy Central continued to post original material on other social networks, Snapchat was now the "top of the food chain".
The network is reportedly one of the social media app's first partners for Discover programs, which feature professionally produced content from companies like CNN, MTV and National Geographic. (kes)
