locally-developed mobile app offers a range of pet services that can upgrade one’s experience of owning a pet - be it a cat, dog, parrot or hamster.
Launched in September, PETO International integrates a number of features that range from a version of “Pet-tinder”, known as PETOdate, to a mobile adoption service for animals.
The idea behind this startup rose when the company’s founder and CEO, Ditya Nandiwardhana, encountered difficulties finding the proper medication and partner for his cat. He ended up losing his cat while undertaking postgraduate studies at the University of Queensland.
Fortunately, he was able, alongside an old friend, Elmo D. Alfared, to direct his grief toward streamlined innovation.

The app boasts social networking features to connect pets with their owners in a close community. The interactive Hump game lets pet owners play as their pets and gain points by humping or attacking other pets.
Available for download on iOS and Android, PETO also features Rescue, where users can donate and adopt animals, an in-app shop, where users can purchase pet essentials and have them delivered, and PETO VETS, which enables users to locate the closest vet.
In the near future, the company plans to develop high-tech wearable gadgets like pet trackers and pet feeders. It also hopes to cross national borders and gain popularity among users from the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and other ASEAN countries. (mra/kes)
