new collaboration between Rihanna and footwear company Puma has seen not only satin and fur slides and sneakers, but also Fenty jelly slides in pink, blue, and black.
While no release date or price range has been announced, many are assuming the new items may sell for as high as US$90.
In response to the assumed price and style of the footwear, netizens were quick to point out the similarities between the singer-designed shoes and the cheap jelly sandals, which are found throughout Asia for as little as a dollar per pair.
“It's so amusing to see foreigners commenting "I'm gonna collect them in all colors!" or "I can't wait! I'm gonna save up money for these!" or "the game has changed” #bathroomslippersfashion,” commented one Facebook user.

In Asia, the jelly slippers are typically worn in the bathroom, due to being waterproof and having a non-slip sole.
“Malaysians have used these kind of slippers in toilet for centuries,” said one Twitter user, tagging both Rihanna and Puma.

“Guess what? Asia is way ahead of you guys. Even our toilet slippers are way more advanced than this,” Tweeted another (sul/kes)
