Instagram launches fun stickers to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month

n celebration of this year’s Pride Month celebrated on June, Instagram has added stickers to the photo app for the LGBTQ community, made by members of the community.
LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer, and is meant to capture the different gender and sexuality identities of people who do not identify as heterosexual.
Besides the usual rainbow flag that has come to represent the community, the stickers show other aspects that LGBTQ members feel are needing more representation, or would like to celebrate. An eye with the transgender flag is intended to show the need for transgender visibility, while a sticker of a man voguing pays homage to the LGBTQ club scene dance. According to the Huffington Post, voguing started with gay African-Americans and Latinos and was popularized by singer Madonna.

The rainbow flag, which symbolizes LGBTQ social activism, still figures into bright, fun designs.
Queer artists Carra Sykes, Andy Simmonds, Cute Brute, José Antonio Roda and Josh McKenna were the talents behind the stickers, reports Mashable.
While the LGBTQ movement for equal rights with their heterosexual counterparts still has a long way to go—only over 20 countries have legalized same-sex marriage as of 2015—the stickers show that companies like Instagram openly express their solidarity with the LGBTQ community.
