eople have long debated on what food to best store for preservation in the fridge. It has been found that there is a handful of food that is negatively affected if kept in the fridge. Below is a list:

Potatoes

It is best to store potatoes in a dry, cool and dark place. Do not wash the potatoes before storing as it speeds up the process of wilting and decaying.

Some fruits (especially bananas and watermelon) 

As a tropical fruit, bananas are able to stand heat but not a cool temperature. If they are stored in the fridge they will turn black in less than three days, making them unsuitable for consumption. Whereas watermelon loses its antioxidants if stored in the fridge.

Coffee beans

An airtight container is the best way to store coffee beans, and in a dry and dark room to ensure flavor and quality. If kept in the fridge, coffee beans will gradually lose flavor and smell.

Garlic

To avoid moldy garlic, keep it at a room temperature and in a dark place. Most importantly, only peel garlic when you need it.

Honey

Honey is one of the basic ingredients that does not have an expiration date if stored properly. Storing it in the fridge will crystallize the sugar and ruin its pH complexity. (vod/kes)
