fter successfully impressing the judges of America’s Got Talent (AGT) with his escape act, Indonesian illusionist Demian Aditya stepped up his game by being buried alive in Tuesday's round of the talent show, dubbed "Judge Cuts".

Prior to his performance, Demian told the judges regarding his upcoming act outside the studio: “I saw this on the internet. The guy who did this died."

Meanwhile, Demian’s wife, actress and singer Sara Wijayanto, was seen sobbing on camera, “I’m really scared right now, because this is, like, the most dangerous act he has ever done."

Onstage, standing next to a large hole in front of the judges, Demian told the audience: “I have a 10-foot [3-meter] hole in front of me. I’m going to be tied with chains, a padlock and handcuffs below." He added that the crew would fill the hole with sand. “I [only] have one-and-a-half minutes to escape before the sand covers the hole and I lose my breath.”

“Is there anything we should be doing if it goes beyond one-and-a-half minutes?” asked judge Simon Cowell.

“I have a small camera [down] there, so you can see [if] something goes wrong,” Demian answered. “And an ambulance is going to save me.”

Demian later asked Sara to give him a bobby pin that he would use to help him escape. He was then chained at the neck, hands and waist. When the crew left him, Demian lay down in a casket that was soon covered with a wooden board.

As the sand slowly buried Demian alive and he could be seen struggling through a TV monitor near the location, the screen suddenly went dark and people started to panic, including Cowell and AGT host Tyra Banks.

Cowell even got up from his seat and asked the crew to stop throwing sand into the hole. “Guys, seriously? Get him out,” he said.

But it turned out to be another successful performance, as Demian was seen unveiling his disguise as one of the crew members, which put a smile on the judges’ faces. In a longer version of the video, Cowell was heard saying, “I genuinely thought you died in there. I either wanted to kill you [or] I want to kill the producers, because I thought I was going to have a heart attack.” He then smiled at Demian: “You’re in a big trouble.”

The official AGT video topped YouTube Trending videos, garnering more than 3 million views.

If Demian passes the Judge Cuts, he will be given the opportunity to move on to the next round, where he will need to somehow top this act to awe American viewers for their votes. (kes)
