T

his year's Grammy Awards host James Corden had a very cute surprise for some nominees who did not bring home a trophy: puppies.

Dave Chappelle might have emerged as this year's winner of Best Comedy Album for his work "The Age of Spin/Deep in the Heart of Texas," but Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Silverman and Jim Gaffigan did not leave empty-handed as Corden decided to give them “consolation puppies."

“I should say to all the nominees who are not going home with a Grammy – I don’t want anyone to be upset tonight, so the good news is nobody goes home empty-handed because all night we will hand out consolation puppies,” said Corden as reported by HuffPost. “So if you didn’t get a Grammy, you get a puppy."

The puppies were handed out to the comedians, resulting in arguably some of the most adorable moments ever put on the show.

“I should tell you, Jerry, be careful. That’s Roxy, she’s a biter,” Corden said to Seinfeld and Jessica, his wife. “And then who got Ruby? I think it was Jim Gaffigan. She isn’t toilet trained, you know,” Corden added.

But People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was not impressed by the stunt and later tweeted, "Very disappointed that the #GRAMMYs chose to gift puppies as a joke. Animals are not toys. #AdoptDon’tBuy.” (rzf/kes)
