Unlike other ballet competitions in Indonesia, the APG uses an international-based judging system where the participants are not only graded when they are on stage, but also when they are in required technical classes. In addition, both technical classes and stage performances are open for the public to watch.
Indonesia has participated in the AGP since 2014. Last year, little ballerina Rebecca Hadibroto from the Marlupi Dance Academy brought home the gold medal.
Apart from Jakarta, the regional competitions will also be held in other cities, such as Singapore, Taipei, Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Manila, Sydney, Seoul and Auckland. (wir/wen)
